Hey guys, I've been using HWmonitor to monitor my hardware temps on my 7811. I was wondering if my hard drive temps were normal? They seem a bit hot.

Under idle I would say it averages around 53c, under load I've seen it go up to 60c. Is that normal? What are your HD temperatures?

    I haven't started a 7811 thread either but I don't own one.

My HDD is 45deg. during idle. I think it gets in the low 60's from time to time.

Yes, I'm on my fourth 7811 and all of them have a hard drive that idles between 50 and 53, and gets up to 65 under heavy load. I'm getting a Zalman ZM-NC2000 in hopes that just having it on an aluminum base with some fans blowing up (but not directly into the hard drive bay based on how it looks like it positions) in hopes of reducing the overall temps, including the hard drives.

And yes, as a rule of thumb those HD temps are kind of hot. According to Seagate the operating temperatures are 0 - 60C.

    Thanx for the reply.

So you think it's worth replacing the laptop? I haven't seen it go over 60c but I'm worried about the longevity of my HD.

edit: Also, quick question. Are the bars in the Volume indicator between the + and - supposed to light up? I know the + and - light up when I press them but not the bars.

Nope (I hate this 10 character minimum limit!)

29C at idle and 36C gaming. This is with the WD Raptor 320GB 5400rpm drive.
