Has anyone heard of Pelican cases? I'm bringing my laptop with me to Iraq, and someone recommended I get a Pelican hardcase. They are watertight, dust proof, crush proof, and corrosion proof. Seems like a much better idea than a soft backpack or soft laptop bag.

Anyway, I found this one here Pelican® Laptop Computer Protector™ Case 1495. Do you think it will fit the Gateway P-6831FX (with the battery)?

Here are the dimensions on the Pelican case:

    Exterior Dimensions: 21.6"L x 17.2"W x 4.9"D
    Interior Dimensions: 18.9"L x 13.1"W x 3.8"D
    Lid Depth: 1.12" (2.8cm)
    Case Depth: 2.68" (6.8cm)

    Thanks!

The battery on the 6831 sticks out of the back abit. you would have to make a notch in that foam to make it fit but other then that its a pretty standard size 17 inch laptop .Looks like a pretty nice case and since its guaranteed forever it seems like a good deal for what you need it for.

Looks nice, will the power brick fit in there as well?
