:gateway: :centrino: Has Gateway ever offered coupons that have been found by the bot in "Notebooks and tech deals" Every week I see Dell with 40% off coupons or $600-$750 off a $1899 laptop purchase.

Dell has an offer every day of every week. Am I wishing upon a star that Gateway may offer 10% off coupon codes???

    Doubt it.

The closest thing is probrably from a local Brick&Mortar store like BestBuy to have the best deals.

There's one thing I don't understand. They say that their computer prices are lower than others because there's no middleman, but don't you guys think that their computers are way overpriced without these coupons?? They should realy start using AMD processors and selling their computers in brick and mortar stores.

I don't think they say that any longer, they've been in BM stores for a long time. BB sells a bunch of them and I think they just inked a deal with an office chain.

The whole concept of eliminating the middleman by selling directly is to cut costs. Gateway and Dell have misused this business plan by increasing margins at the expense of customers. Gateway further screwed themselves by opening their own stores which have since been shutdown, costing hundreds of millions.

Gateway has missed the boat on being computer experts. Gateway is now getting out of the Plasma/LCD business as well. I don't get it. These big companies screw their customers and then they screw themselves with stupid business plans that make no sense. It does make sense to sell Gateway's in one major retailer like Best Buy. It does make sense to eliminate the middle man and build it yourself. This cuts down on costs and inventory.

Being in corporate america for many years I have seen the dumbest people with fancy MBA's make the dumbest business mistakes. I still like the new thin and lite Gateway designs.
