Hi Guys,
I was playing BF Bad company 2 that I have just bought. I encountered my computer getting stuck (not responding) after 20-30 mins of gameplay. I had to forcefully shut down my laptop 3 times and even switched off the powermizer in hope that the game stopped getting stuck, but it didn't work. Anyone knows what's wrong with my laptop.![]()

Have you checked temps?
-
I couldn't check back to the windows page as my screen would totally freeze up. and for further info... my cpu is undervolted and I overclock my gpu a lil bit to make the gaming experience a little better (Dox latest software).... this is my first time experiencing game freezing issue

If you're talking about the your laptop freezing completely while playing BC2, and requiring a hard boot, then yea I have that problem as well, it's quite a popular problem and it's really annoying, sometimes it freezes almost instantly after joining a game, sometimes it happens after a few hours/minutes of play. http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/380660.page
This thread is about the crash (although some people talk about other crashes), and there's about 108 pages of talk about it, but no fix yet. I guess we're all just waiting for a patch from DICE.
Btw I'm running BC2 on a 7805u. -
I've never had a crash like this.
Do you elevate your laptop as you play games? -
Yes I do... I have a notebook cooler

I had this problem the moment I got my P-7805u and I had to ship it back for repairs. I discovered that my problem definitely was an overheating problem, although the temperatures did not indicate so.
-
I've had this problem since upgrading my Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit Premium. Funny enough, I did this in the hopes it would fix the bugs I've been getting in Vista... LOL.
I've re-installed Steam & Battlefield: Bad Company 2, both to no avail. I'm running off the wireless adapter. I'm going to purchase a long Cat5 cable and see if that makes a difference, disabling the Intel wifi adapter in the meantime. I've also done a bunch of other stuff (downloaded Rivatuner and forced Quality 3D Performance setting, playing on Low settings in BFBC2)... I'm getting at my wits end though. Really becoming a pain in the arse. -
Stop using the laptop cooler.
I have a P7805u FX without using a cooler, no RAID0 and it works FINE on the highest settings.
I just beat the single-player campaign in one go - took me about 5 hours-ish.
Did not overheat, HD never went about 57, GPU never went above 90.
Something is wrong with your hardware.
Get it fixed.
I recommend blowing air into all of the vents possible. -
Well, just to give an update.. I took many of the users' advice and blew some compressed air through all the vents (especially the fan by the graphics card). I was able to play BFBC2 for about 3 hours without once shutting down. So it may be a dust thing... Hope to continue testing this week and will keep you all aware.
I guess Vista 64-bit (or the NVIDIA drivers associated with it) was a bit more tolerant of the overheating?? Odd... -
If it doesn't work again, try this fix. It has helped a lot of 7811 users, especially me:
1. Download the latest version of RivaTuner here: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner
2. Install RivaTuner and Run the program.
3. In the Main tab, click on the arrow next to Customize under Driver Settings to bring up more options then click System Settings (the first Icon)
4. In the Overclocking tab, where it says "Force constant performance level" select performance 3D.
5. Click apply, and reboot the system when prompted.
If for some reason the "Force constant performance level" drop-down is grayed out you will need to go to the "Power users" tab in the initial RivaTuner window. Then click on the "+" next to "RivaTuner \ NVIDIA \ Overclocking". Look for "EnablePerfLevelForcing" and under Value type 1. Click apply, this should allow you to modify "Force constant performance level." Finally, follow steps 3-5 above.
Have anyone experience this with FX 7811
