    just unboxed my 7805fx and when i see the hdd properties it shows the 320 gb drive as a 280 drive. any idea what up with that, i seem to have lost a 40 gigs

    mine shows only 280gb too, could be a partition that contains recovery stuff. I just got it recently but that is common among notebook I've used in the past.

    320GB HDD = 296.1GB

    Sans a 15ish GB recovery partition you end up with your 280GB "fresh" drive

    can the recovery partiotion be used in any way?

    you can use Gparted to take a peek at how the partitions are set up, and reconfigure it. As always, back up w/e important stuff off the hd first.

    I just backup the important drivers/documents/software needed.... formatted and deleted the extra partition... and hello more space
