My gateway is almost 3 and until recently I have never noticed this problem. I dont know if I accidently changed some setting (totally possible since I have no clue what I'm doing most of the time). When I plug my headphones into the headphone jack (not the mic jack, I've already checked that a dozen times) I get sound out of both my headphones and the built in laptop speakers. Maybe I never noticed it before because I previously only used it at home, but now I work in a lab where people probably dont appreciate hearing my music and podcasts as loudly as I do.

Everyone I have asked has said the sound should automatically switch from the speakers to the headphones when they are plugged in, but it doesn't, they seem to share the sound. Does anyone know how to fix this?
