    Hello everyone,

I just update my P-7805u GPU driver to 186.03 version from Nvidia website

I followed the instruction here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=265740

and now after reboot, I found black spots on the screen sometimes..

I really don't know how to explain it in words, but I took a few screenshots.

Here list of what I did to update the driver :

1)Uninstall current drivers from 'Programs and Features' in control panel -- Do NOT reboot

in this step I choose the 2nd choice "Remove all NVIDIA drivers, except Display" since it's the default choice.

    2) Right click 'Driver Sweeper' -- Select 'Run as administrator'

    3) Tick 'NVIDIA - Display' -- Click 'Clean'

    4) Reboot

    5) Run the 186.03 Setup

    6) Installed and reboot

    7) I got the problem as mentioned above. :(

    someone please help !!

    Update..

I found out that if I set my color setting to 16 bit, I won't have the problem.. but who would want to use 16 bit?!?!?!?!

I would system restore, then uninstall via the Device manager choose to delete files, then scan for new hardware so it installs as a Standard VGA. Then reboot and install 186.03. That is what I did and i didnt experience any issues.

I never liked 186.03; only good for benchmarking. Crashed on everything else. I stayed with 190.15 until i found out that WHQL certified drivers were required for blu-ray playback so now on Dox's 185.85 drivers.

185.85 seems to be the most stable driver version at the moment on the 9800 card of these machines.

    cheers ...

Ok I found the 185.85 now.

then may I ask again if which is the best way of installing driver??

uninstall via the Device manager choose to delete files, then scan for new hardware so it installs as a Standard VGA, reboot then install 185.85 like Infiniteone said?

and do I need to use driver sweeper?

    Okay guys...

    I just installed 185.85 twice,

    first times without Driver Sweeper,

    second times with Driver Sweeper.

resulted with the same issue... it's still blink and shows black screen ocassionally.

is it because of the drivers? or is it just me that install it wrongly?

but I don't think I did the wrong way.

Sounds like an issue I had one time, if you have physx and System Tool (OC utility) installed, try uninstalling all of it, then re installing drivers and then the others.

Ok Ive only got one other Idea, there has got to be something messing up the drivers. On your C: Drive their is a folder called nvidia, uninstall everything Nvidia in your computer then delete this folder, run driver sweeper and hopefully the harmful file goes with it. I cant think of anything other than software that would cause this issue. What is the driver version that works correctly?

Alright I'll try to do that now. The only driver that work correctly is the stock driver Forceware 176.15 Vista 64 bit.

    Ermmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I stop the the flickering/blinking by reducing my Colors to "Medium 16 bit"

I also found that reducing to lower resolutions but still with "High 32 bit" would still cause it to flicker.

    anyone knows anything about this?

I'm in really deep trouble now, if anyone has any idea or any fix for this please let me know...

I've tried countless number of drivers, searched the forums, but still no luck in fixing this, the one and only driver that I can use is the 176.15 stock driver from gateway...

However this 176.15 driver is not quite good for gaming, I can only play TF2, Warcraft 3 frozen throne and COD5 with occasionally crash.

maybe I need to update my bios?

Sorry to bring this up again..

But the problem still exists here.

I've tried really lots of drivers but none of them could solve my problem.. only the 176.15 stock driver from gateway that allows me to use the notebook normally, but the gaming performance is really bad.

I'm still searching for some answer if anyone has any clue please help me.

    Thank you.
