When I first purchased my P-6831FX I had a big ... SMILE! :D hahaha. I upgraded over the years with 4GB of RAM at first, then RAID 0 configuration. Now, with Diablo III on the near horizon, I want to boost my laptop even more. Because I moved from Pennsylvania to a VERY HOT Tropical part of the world, and apparently the heat KILLED my hard drives. I'm getting "RAID Volume Failing" notice all the time, and during POST, I see RAID Errors. :( First, I was wondering if RAID 0 is all it's cracked up to be. So I considered going back to a SINGLE (FAST) Drive. Also, I will (for sure) buy a T9300 CPU to MAX Out my processing power (unless there is a faster CPU that is compatible with my Mobo). Currently I'm still using Windows Vista (stock from Gateway). And I want to be able to play Diablo III without buying an entirely new laptop (cuz I cant afford it now, or anytime soon) Would buying Windows 7 help with gaming? I play Borderlands and Fallout 3 with little difficulties, but I'm not sure if the resolution and graphic detail can be improved - It looks GREAT to me already. So in the next week, I will buy new hardware / upgrades. So hopefully one of you guys (who already upgraded their FX) could suggest a course of action. THANKS, and Happy Holidays! :)

I find that my FX ran the drives hot, not much ventilation. I pulled the second drive to reduce heat loads.

If you insist on RAID then I would look for a cooler that works with fans under the drive bays. Make your own with wood and fans for DTR.

Against my better judgement (buying used), I snagged a 2nd hand T9300 for $50. Took me about 6 months of looking to find this. But after I got home, I dropped the CPU into the socket and AWAY she went! I frankly don't see a huge improvement, but it's only $50. Next purchase is a Cooler Master Notepal U2, to keep this puppy chillin'! :D
