so i have a 7811 (that's one of the ones with a 1920x1200 screen)... but i would like to play my games @ 1440x900.

since i changed my driver to XFastest185.20 a few months ago ... the only way to temporally use that res is by trying to make a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel, which fails the test but still lets me access the resolution untill the next time i turn on my lappy.

i would like to be able to keep this driver since its the one that is most stable and gives me the best performance.
    can you guys help? ^_^

so far what i do is: nvidia control panel>manage custom resolutions>create>1440x900>FAIL.
(i don't know what to change in the advanced)

Or are you playing an in browser game? Or does the game not let you switch resolutions? Or has the driver that you installed not let you change resolutions.

Well have you checked if you have the latest Control Panel, also is that the window when you right click the desktop and click manage resolution?

It wont allow me to change the res to 1440x900 unless i do the steps previously mentioned, the next time i re-start my lappy some of the games change back to 1920x1200 (i.e- DiRT2)

i can change resolutions but 1440x900 is not one of the options, i have ntools 6.03.
no, that is not the windows display settings window, its nvidia tools, but games/windows display settings/nvidia tools none of those give me the option to change to the res i want =/

When I try to use Manage Custom Resolutions it does not work, but when I use Change Resolution there is an option for me to change it.

if you can't find a good resolution try using a bigger or smaller one.

Also what what nvidia drivers are you using, try updating those and check your Control Panel.
