Hi all!! I need some advice on cpu upgrade purchase for my p-7805u. I can get a T9800 for $418us,T9900 for $435us, or a X9100 for $368us. All have E0 stepping. Which one should I go for? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks![]()

The t9900 and the x9100 will be the same clock speed, but the t9900 will have a good deal lower TDP (which equals cooler temps)
On the other hand you wont notice a difference in speeds between the t9800 and t9900 so either will yield the same "feel" to you.
So if you want the "best" upgrade for the 78xx series its the t9900, but according to your prices, i would take the higher TDP and get the x9100 and just undervolt it. -
Thanks Kamen I also just looked at X9100 offered to me and is an es(engineering sample) version so im not sure. Also can u look here http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core-2-Duo-Mobile-Processor-T9800-2-93Mhz-L6Mb_W0QQitemZ260419111543QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_LaptopMotherboards_CPUs_CA?hash=item3ca2304a77&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177&_trkparms=240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 does this one look like an official oem version? it is alot cheaper than the other one. hmmmm

There's nothing wrong with an ES chip. I run an ES x9000 in my 6860. They are good CPU's, just not retail.
It wouldn't make sense for Intel to send out testing samples that are really faulty due to the fact it would screw up the whole point of chips for stress testing.

Here is the tech specs of the t9800 you're looking at. Good price for a 2.93gHz CPU i would say though -
Hmm which one then? kamin does the one i asked you to look at seem legit. the person says it's new oem. I just don't want to get burned. Or would you go for the x9100es one?
Please let me know and thanks for all the help -

the t9800 you listed from ebay seems legit... the seller doesnt sell much. But you never know. But i've bought alot on ebay and only been screwed twice (once by a power seller
) so you never know, but if i was looking for a t9800 i would buy that one. But i would also buy in a way i could protect myself.
I bought my x9000 from a guy with 3 total sells ever and i got it perfectly, so you really just never know -
How would you protect yourself? I am leaning more towards the T9800 because of price but X9100 seems good too. AHHHHH decisions
-
I just purchased the T9800. Thanks for the help!!
Now just have to wait until it gets here
-
I would have went with the T9900, but thats just me. =) Congrats on your new toy!!

ya i just found out that. why wont gateway let the qx9300 work in the computer. you think quad cor qould be suported
-
I highly recommend extremeprocessor as seller on ebay.
I bought my retail T9900 from him at $425 -
I got my t9800 for $340 canadian and extremeprocessor was selling his T9900 for $485 canadian. I figured it wasn't worth the extra $145 for only a little gain in speed if any at all. I am very pleased with what I got.

All the above is great, but if I were you I would wait 3-4 months. When the 32n processors come out the prices will drop. For me times are hard, and I am willing to wait for the price to drop. The increase is not so huge to rush into buying.
Help me decide on cpu upgrade
