    Help needed / sound problem

    When I powered up my gateway p-6831 fx laptop today I noticed a loud static sound coming from my headphones. I have tried multiple pairs / and different songs etc, still having an issue with the static. When I unplug the headphones, the laptop speakers sound just fine though. Please, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
