Hi all,
Wonder if anyone can help. I have a Gateway 8550GB which originally had a Pentium M 1.73Ghz processor and X700 Mobility card. I now have Pentium M 2.26 Ghz and X1900 mobility running in it which all works fine (3DMark 06 scoring around 3100 at standard clocks) apart from one thing. The temp reading for the CPU keeps hanging on 35oC when running at max load and then reading fine once off load so the fans do not spool up correctly to cool the unit. If I reinsert the X700 the problem goes away so I assume it may be a conflict to do with the X1900 card and the outdated Bios. The current version is Gateway 59.04 (from 2005) for the Intel 915PM board (think I may be correct in saying it is Pheonix Bios?). As usual Gateway Customer service are about as much help as a chocolate teapot. Does anyone know of a bios update? or any other ideas?
Thanks
Gaz

i m afraid that u r pretty much on ur own in this aspect. try using NHC or RMCLock to control the fan and performance? look for another brand that uses the same board footprint and see if they do have another bios version that would work
