I had a bolt of lighting hit our house, the other morning. I was on a surge protector... But it fried a lot of gear. The only thing it didn't get was computer. But I was hooked up to a router. Now I can't get computer to INTERNET. Light doesn't come on at plug, on computer. Router is history. I'm straight from wind stream modem to computer via Ethernet cable. I went to live chat and rep. said to reinstall something. He wrote that it was OK(Ethernet) connection. He had me look Au some things, and said it needed to reinstall something. As I was trying to copy it, he signed off and lost instructions!!!! I just need to find out what to reinstall....and where!!!
What he had me do was type "cm nd" at the run box and then typed in 127.0.0.1., and he wrote it was OK, from the feed back I gave him.
Sorry for being drawn out just trying to get info right.
I need some help!!!!

    Thank You For Your Time!!!!

    First thing -

are you using the same cable that you had between the modem and the "fried" router?

    If so, try another cable.
