I was in the middle of playing Warcraft III DOTA when I got disconnected. I realize that my 7805u thinks that my wireless adapter is turned off, however, I never actually moved the switch.
Moving it on and off no longer toggles the light :[ Device Manager says that the adapter is working fine, so I'm really hoping it's just the switch.
Anyone know of anything I can do without having to try to send it in for repair?
thank you very much for any solutions or advice

fn+f2 possibly.

Ok its kool man calm down. I kno the fix for this. Open up the cover under your computer that lets you get to your CPU RAM wiFi card etc.
Take out the 2 screws that hold your wifi card to your computer and take out your wifi card. DO NOT disconnect the 2 wires connected to it.
Next insert the wireless card into the other PCI slot next to it. And screw it back on.
Make sure you place the wires in comfortable positions, (this might be a bit of a hassle but you will get it through), no worries.
Reboot your computer and install your wireless driver again.
And voila it should all work now. -
screwy PCI slot in these units?
-
Probably. It happens on some Asus's too. I fixed an Asus G50vt X1's problem. Just took out the Wifi Card and put it in a second slot. Worked perfectly after that XD.
This should be the ultimate fix tho.
Oh and you might not be able to turn wifi on or off. You will have to disconnect from whatever WiFI network you link up to, so that your system uses only the ethernet cable.
This is what i do. But my WiFi is BLAZING fast so i don't do it anymore. But if i ever play a serious online game i always switch to Ethernet only.
Hope i helped. Guess only a few of us are awake at this time lOL. OP tell us if the fix i provided fixed your problem. Hope it did. -

Yes but in that case the only problem would be the screws fastening the card into the MB. But if you leave unscrewed and screw the cover back in. You can use the cover to hold the card in place. It may not sound safe but if you look on YouTUbe, there is 1 guy who has his wireless card like this. And he did not mention any complications at all.
So that fix might just work for the OP if he ever gets back here. -
@rot112, I will definitely update you when I try this after work. Thank you so very much for the specific instructions in advance, much appreciated sir.
I'm willing to do whatever works, but moving it to another PCI slot sounds kind of weird to me. I don't understand how the physical on-off switch works and how it communicates with the wifi card. Somehow, it kills power to it and disables it?

No problem. Happy to help. My card started to think it was off all the time so i had to switch the PCI slot myself. It will definitely work. Get back to us when you try my fix.

I had that happen on my 6860 before, and i too moved it to the second slot, after that the switch didn't work. I got mine working again tho.
To fix it i took out CMOS battery and then the card, left it for about a minute, and then put them back in, but the card back into the first slot. Since then it has been working fine. -
Wow really?
Were there any settings that you had to change in the bios since the battery pull?
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to trying anything yet. >_< Was busy with blizzcon the entire weekend but tonight is the night!

OP did this work for you? I've had issues with my Intel 5100AGN card as well, once in a while the card will just turn itself off for no apparent reason.
