After updating my GPU drivers to Dox 178.24 - and my GPUs idle temp went from 40-42 to around 50-52.

So a 10 celcius increase in idle temp - due to new drivers.

Does this seem weird, or is it just me? :-/

How do I check if powermizer is disabled? :)

All I did was uninstall old drivers, and install Doxs new drivers :(

It sounds like Powermizer could be disabled. Download something like NVIDIA System Tools 6.03 and use the "NVIDIA Monitor" applet that comes with it to see if your card is running at maximum frequency (probably something similar to 500 core/800 mem) or if it is running at 2D frequency (like 166/100).

This would indicate Powermizer being disabled, yes?

Use NVMonitor which is installed with NVIDIA System Tools.

NVidia System Monitor is not in the cControl Panel. When you installed ntune it would have installed a seperate desktop icon or a seperate program in the Nikon folder in your start menu->programs. But it looks like your clock settings are always at max which is why the high temps... It happened to me.

Time to muck with the registry...

WindowsKey-R for a command line. type in regedit and hit enter. Navigate to Computer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video

There will be one or more registrations below that. Open the 0000 entry in all of them. Most of them will contain very little. You are looking for the one with the PerfLvlSrc value on the right. If it isn't already x3333, change it to that close regedit and reboot. If it is already x3333, then you may need to play with the Powermizer values beneath it.

    Here are my registry values:

I have same 178.24 drivers and same problem. With xfastest 177.85 the powermizer worked fine. I wait for the new 180.48 drivers and see what they can do. If no change then try that registry thingy.

edit: Dox 180.44 powermizer is enabled by default

Wierd. I never noticed the temperature before I upgraded to 180.43. But my P-6860FX's GPU usually idles on 50C-52C and goes up to 70C-72C under heavy load.

Whats everyone's idle temperature (just to know the norm) and what kind of laptop are you using?

using 180.48 (self modified) idles at 40-43c
the best way to check is to run some gpu test in a window (furmark, attitool etc)while having gpuz (sensor tab)on the side. 30 sec after closing the test window the clocks in gpuz should go down. cant miss it.
