in the first image you can see that the hinge is lifted up from where it sits. in the second image it is pushed left away from where it should be.

What now? Is there a place to buy replacement screws for the bottom of the chassis and the hinge? Many have fallen out over time.

I begged Gateway support to send me spare screws (since they started falling out all over the chassis 6 mos after I bought it), but they told me to send it to the service center (6 week repair and provide them ALL MY PASSWORDS, sure - that sounds great..)

Does anyone have any experience with re-aligning the hinge, or should I consider this a 550$ loss and accept that it's going to progressively break off and stop working in a few weeks?

It looks like the pannel shroud/case is cracked too. Did you drop it?

That's a misleading reflection, actually! Nice find, nonetheless.

Thanks for the replacement part links; quite expensive.. The thing is, it isn't broken per se - it's just off. I need to re-align it somehow. But it isn't broken, just scratched.
