    Hello,

I have several DVD backups on my hard drive which I watch using VLC player. I've noticed lately that when watching the videos, the player tends to skip. When watching DVD quality movies, this is evident by frequent lags of just about half a second, so it's tolerable. However, I have two blu ray movies also; these skip terribly. I've tried setting VLC's priority to realtime but it didn't change the lag at all. Does anyone have any idea what this lag may be coming from? The videos are on a Hitachi 5k500B if that helps.

    Thanks!

I've noticed a similar problem when watching DVD .iso's mounted by Daemon Tools through VideoLan. The HDD activity LED lights up during the lag.

I've found that I can fix the problem by closing VLC, unmounting the image with Daemon Tools, then mounting it again. This time, the movie plays back without any freezing.
