I was in Best Buy the other day, about to buy the 7805u. I was checking out the screen on the display model and I really didn't like it. The viewing angles were horrendous and the colors were off. I fiddled around with the display settings with no luck. It was an AOU 1440x900. Are they all bad quality? Please answer me truthfully. The Asus g50VT X5's screen destroyed this one. Thanks.

Not sure if all AUO screens are bad but i got an LG screen and all i can say is, its awesome. Not sure if all LG screen owners felt the same. There's always some unlucky ones too. Same goes with AUO's too. Between LG and AUO its LG though.

My LG WUXGA screen is great, too.

    I've got no problems.

Haven't seen the AOU WSXGA monitor, so can't comment on it.

Haven't seen the AUO 1440 either but my son's LG 1440 is really nice.....virtually perfect as far as I can tell. One thing's for sure, it beats living heck out of the CMO 1440 on my wife's HP.

Don't always go by the store units. These stores will sometimes set the display off on items so that you'll spend more on another unit. They'll do this to monitors and TV's as well.

Now this isn't a professional calibration but if you go to http://www.displaycalibration.com/ and follow the steps there you will probably be happier. Pay close attention to all the settings and adjust for the truest possible representation of all colors and other things.

Edit: you'll need to adjust settings in the nVidia control panel..........

I bought the display model at bestbuy but it's LG 1920x1200. It's absolutely beautiful.

I have an LG WUXGA as well and I love the colors. Pictures just look more clearer in comparsion to my previous notebook (HP DV2550SE).

I have the 1920X1200 AOU screen on mine, and the colors were pretty bad right out of the box. I calibrated it with an eye-one colorimeter, and the difference is night and day. The screen looks fantastic now.

Yeah, now that you mention it -

    I did something similar, too.

I doubt if the Vista defaults give the best results for any of the monitors on ANY system, and I feel very confident that Gateway wasn't going to create four or more sets of values for each of the possible monitors on the 7805u's.
