Hi! Im a little bit frustrated with my problems

First the HD. I have noticed that the HD is ver hot recently I have the Notebook Hardware Control to monitor the temp of both the CPU and the HD and recently the temp of the HD is going up to 55°C and a warning message appears telling me that the HD is too hot and I can feel it in the right palm rest, sometimes it becomes very uncomfortable

Then sudennly a key from the keyboard (the <- key) removed itself, well I didnt to anything to remove it!! I jut pressed it once and then it was stucked in my finger and I cant put it together again! I think two small pieces broke (the pieces that atach to the metal thing in the keyboard) so I dont know what to do anymore.

Is there a way to fix the HD? I mean to lower its temperature? may be if u change it to one of 5400rpm? and about the keyboard what can I do about that!! Im really frustrated.

    I'll really apreciate your help.

Upgrading the HD to a 5400rpm would actually increase heat. By the X600, I am asuming that you bought online? I would contact Gateway. An HD should not get to an 'uncomfortable' temperature. I don't know much about temperatures of components, but I always thought that 50C was normal.. I guess that's not the case.
For the keyboard, it is probably going to be hard to convince Gateway that it happened on it's own. They will probably charge you $70 to replace the KB.
    Is this your first notebook?

Awwww thats bad news but thanks for responding!

Replace the whole keyboard! :O Can they just replace that key? lol

No it is my 3rd laptop and I have never remove the keys to clean them, a friend of mine had a horrible experiencie doing that so I never do it. But I think I have to call Gateway and resolve this >_<

About the HD, so my HD could be damaged or something? Im little worried about it.

    THanks!

Well, you could ask them about fixing the one key.. I can't tell you their response though ;)
I guess your harddrive could be damaged. Let me check my HD temp before you go about telling Gateway that it is damaged. What did you use to determin temperature?

    Wowzerz. That is extremely hot.
80gb 4200rpm that I am currently using is at 39C..
    That must be a problem.

just wondering what is your computer?

I have the same problem on mine. I also think it heats too much but on Notebook Hardware Control it doesn't show the HD temp. I just feel it under my left palm.

Well, my computer is a mx6619m but I think in the US is the M460 (but I think Gateway changed the model numbers ¬.¬).
