I just bought a T9900 for only $380 at HP parts store. Its $339, plus tax and shipping.

I got the link from eVGA forum while doing some research on CPU for my notebook originally more focused on the P9700. The cheapest P9700 I found was about $257 on ebay, but no t9900 under $430-500. I called HP and confirmed they were instock and placed my order right then. I should of bough 3 and resold them.

EDIT: Looks like you now need to call HP to find stock status, was still in stock when I ordered (made sure to order before I posted here).
-
did you use the $10 off & free shipping coupon floating around the web and the 3% bing cashback?
I'm going to check if they'll take it.
edit: no worky. -
Doesn't work because its the Parts Store, not there regular store. Trust me, I went down the list of HP codes, from 20% off AC1874, to the $15 off $150+ savings15 to $30 off $300+ savings30
-
will the t9900 work in my 7805?
-
Short answer yes, plenty of posts on the subject.
-
good upgrade over a T9550, or not worth it?
-
yours is not a t9600 stop confusing me! (I go to Umich)
-
Wait, what? Didn't you say p9600 in your other post?
-
mine is a T9550. there is no 9600 in the T model. got the model name mixed up a bit, but the speed (which is what matters) remains the same. anyway, good upgrade or no?
-
-
there is a t9600 or atleast there was and there is a p9600.
http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB47 -
oh, there is! haha. for some reason, I thought the T9800 was the 2.8GHz, and the T9550 was the 2.6GHz.
thought wrong, clearly. I see the T9600 is the 2.8GHz, T9800 is the 2.93GHz, and my T9600 is the 2.66GHz.
P's and T's got me jumbled up a bit.
regardless, mine is the T9550. 2.66GHz (as listed in sig). so yae or nay? that's...+400MHz x2. -

Great deal, I thought I was lucky when I only paid $400 shipped for my new T9900. Nice find!
-
i would've bought it if i didn't already have x9100 on my p-7805u.
oh, well.. but then again, i am gonna sell my laptop soon so it doesn't
really matter now. good find though. -
Wish I had a job, this is cheaper than a T9800 is most places...
-
w00t, CPU arrived! Nice little package, they send everything but a screw driver. That's OK, it will keep me from installing it until I get home where I have some AS5 waiting.

Wow thats a nice little set up that came with it too. Even if you had nothing you could completely set up the CPU. Pretty good deal all around
Enjoy your new 3.06 power -
I've gotten spare parts from Asus and HP before, normally comes with nice extras like notebook sized screws and stuff of the rare parts nature that you normally have to twist their arms to send you.

I wan't going to upgrade but that kit...........

Looks to be on backorder for 3 weeks or more...
I kept my order open but if it doesn't ship in 3 weeks, I'm cancelling it I guess. -
FYI, my 3Dmark06 score went from 8005 to 9532 (graphics card not OCed).

Despite what it says, its Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit RTM (Retail). -

Took about a week, the HP guy I talked to was baffled why it took as long as it did and on the UPS tracking it said (rescheduled delivery while on route), so there must of been some kind of delay. All 'n all it was a snap to install, had about a half an hour at home before I had to head out to work on someone else's PC.

Mine just came by UPS next day air - so much for 3 weeks back order!

I might bite on this. I have a friend that works for HP here in Colorado Springs, CO and he's going to see if he can find it and use his discount.... Won't know till tomm..

Installed...
My temps dropped from the P8400's 37 - 38 degrees C to now an idle of around 29-30 C.
I used the ShinEtsu Microsi provided by HP. I figured I would test it out for now and go for IC Diamond 7 later...
So far so good, going to do some benches now. -
Ordered today. Thanks for the heads up.
-
Ranger, did you have to change the power supply for the system to upgrade to that chip. It's the same one I'm looking at putting in mine right now.
When the new FX line was just released, I was actually thinking of dumping my laptop and getting one of these, but they are all 900p screen rez!? I don't understand Gateway. Anyhow, looks like I'll go with the CPU upgrade instead. -

If you want a bigger screen you will have to buy one and install it. -
Still using the brick my notebook came with, haven't run into any problems so far, but I still wanna get the higher power one, but have no idea where to get it.

Don't replace it unless you need to, the Targus 180W has no warranty support. I've tried to make that clear to everybody but people are still buying it. If I would have known that before I got mine I would not have bought the bigger unit. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Just picked one up myself.

Just ordered 1. Do I have to update my bios or anything before installing this cpu? Do i just plug it in and restart? thanks. BTW, i have a 7811FX.
I just got my Windows 7 Ultimate today and about to install, will the drivers for my video card in vista work in W7? thanks. -
-
You may want to also remove the original cpu's from device manager so that when you reboot the proper cpu cores are detected. You do not have to but if you are going to spend the money and go through the trouble you may as well..........
-
Was the 6.4 your score with the T9900? I am considering a T9800 for my FX since I find the p7350 is really bottle necking my pc. I was hitting 5.5 for CPU in windows 7. and high 6.6+ for everything else except 6.0 for the HD.

Just because your CPU score is the lowest score in the WEI does NOT mean it is your pc's bottleneck...
WEI is pointing so many people in the wrong direction...
If you want to see if your CPU is the bottleneck you need to stress your computer like you normally do (Play games, encode videos, or do whatever you bought the laptop for) and look at the CPU usage graph to see if you are maxing out your current processor. If the graph is not stuck at the top and flat for both CPUs (at 100%) then the CPU is not holding you back. You can also undervolt the processor and lock it to the maximum multiplier with RMClock to get a little bit more speed out of the processor since it will be running at the highest clock at all times. -
I know all that, and I was just wondering I dont care about the WEI I was just wondering. I know how PCs work and such I was just wondering because when I was running windows 7 before it was a scale of 6.9 now its 7.9.
I noticed your running a FX seriers laptop with XP now do you get those stupid "glitches" in your games every minute or so? If not what drivers are you running? You do have a 9800m GTS right?
Also have you ever gotten your BUILT in MIC to work? JW cuz I have to use an external MIC. -
I bought a T9900 but haven't installed it yet. Does anyone know if the T9900 will work on a 7801u with a 9c.08.00 bios? I like the bios I have. I'd rather not change it. It works good.
Also some one told me that the T9900 has pins on the bottom. Mine doesn't. I thought intel stopped with the pins on the CPU a while ago.
Thank for your time.

No video problems at all using Dox 182.46 video drivers.
I've never tried the internal mic, I use my external one on my headset if I need a mic.
I never updated the bios in my P7801u, I can't remember for sure if I have 8, I'm not gonna be near my laptop till tomorrow night but I'll try to remember to check and let you know if someone else hasn't confirmed for you already. -
-
...Looks like I got the right chip after all. I thought it didn't have any pins. I was wrong the pins are there. Turns out they were so small I could hardly tell they were there without a real close look. Thanks Big Mike for the heads up on the chip's socket configuration. Thank God I didn't have to send it back.
Thank

Yeah...I can't believe the problems I'm having getting mine. I ordered on Oct.19th. Had a ship date of Oct.23rd. Come to find out they had all the information incorrect on my order! Even after they fixed that I was told the ship date of Oct.23rd. Been in contact with H.P. sales almost on a daily basis as the keep changing my ship date. Went to Oct 29th and now is showing Nov.3rd.
They were to call me back today(at 4:00 P.M.)after checking thier warehouse and expediting my order. No call. I am going to cancel now because of this. I've really had with their excuses! Also, I found another HP reseller (Spare Parts Warehouse). I ordered from them this afternoon, the price is $314.93 + 29.00 2-day shipping with no tax. Actually ended up being cheaper then the HP Parts Store. Never will I use them again. It's been the wrost experience I ever had ordering a part. -
-
It'a right here-same part # 570434-001 as H.P.'s. http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Laptop,Processors-CPU.aspx. About middle of page. I called and at first the rep said it was out of stock but then she cross-referenced it and found it in stock. (Ask for Karen) She also at my insistance put in remarks that if it goes backorder to cancel the order. Never can be too safe. But, she assured me it was in stock and would be delivered by Thursday. I will get confirmation tomorrow morning because I placed the order so late in the day. Hope it works for you.
-
Okay so I placed an order from the same site as banjo, it does come out to be around $40 cheaper than HP, I'm calling HP to cancel my order with them. Hope to get my cpu by friday.
-
Glad it worked out for you. I just had such a bad time with HP Parts , I'm just happy to deal with people who seem to want you as a customer. Good luck, I'll let you know when it comes in.
Hotdeal on a T9900 for $339 for my P-7811FX!
