Looking at price/performance, is this the favored option for upgrading the processor in the P-6860FX? A little over $300 seems like a great deal for a great chip. Is there anything I should be looking for or perhaps another chip?

I like the dedicated 6mb L2 cache, I'm guessing this is why it's a bit more than the T7500
-
i think it's also more power efficient and produces less heat than the T7000 series
-
yeah, I went ahead and pulled the trigger, should be here on Wednesday. I know it's a 45nm chip, so it will definitely run cooler with less power and much much faster.

I just put a T9300 into my P-6860 - I've seen a core temp get up to 65C according to RealTemp with AoC running. Typically it runs at 38C-40C idle. I'm not sure how it compares to the original T5550 as I didn't have it long enough before I upgraded.

Here's one of my old benchmarks for comparison:

i'm aiming for the T8300, since there isn't much difference gaming wise, might just save 70$ and go buy some game

Yea, I would have no problems with the T8300. I had a little extra cash so went for the T9300.
Enjoy -
I managed to snag a T8300 for a total of $212.00 off of ebay. It was brand new in the retail box. (The T9300 is a little too much for my budget at this time.) I felt the T8300 was a good compromise between a T8100 and T9300. I really didn't look at the T7000 series because of heat issues also.

I am getting about 42-47 with my T9300. I used Arctic Ceramique instead of AS5.
I am using another program to check temp. though
The upgrade was definitely worth it for certain games.
How about the T9300 for a 6860?
