So, I recently installed 177.92 and I'm getting pretty good framerates in all my games. I can even play Crysis on high with some settings tweaked to low or off like post processing (don't like that stuff). Oh and I have the 6831FX stock. I can also do devil may cry 4 very very silky smooth, and well anybody else who owns this laptop should already know.

But then I installed WoW and with all settings on max at 1440x900, I'm getting like upper 20s low 30s fps outdoors. For example when I'm inside the INN in Brill, it's smooth, but the MOMENT I step out, my fps drops to like 28. Anybody have any recommendations on why this happens? Perhaps this happens to you too?

Update: Ok, so I decided to run 3dmark05 and see what my scores are. Last I remember my highest score was about 9800 no overclock with stock parts. So I ran it again and my ending results were 4400. Something is very wrong.

Note: I should also point out, that I followed the driver upgrade instructions but they didn't work. Vista keeps insisting that my "standard vga" is up to date and will not let me install the drivers normally. I can only install them in safe mode but I don't think they work properly when installed in safe mode. The nvidia installer keeps saying this:

Sorry I'm not contributing anything to this but I'm also curious about this. I don't have my laptop (YET) but soon I will and this kinda concerned me. I don't play WoW, but i do play FFXI >.> was curious if this is a MMO thing or what. Would be kinda disappointed to not get max FPS in FFXI.

@zerg...try following this guide if you are having trouble getting your standard vga to update.

Yea, I went ahead and posted the same thing on that board. And I have followed the guide, but windows insists that the standard vga drivers are up to date and won't let me do anything else. =\

If windows is seeing the card as standard VGA then you definitely have a driver issue which will obviously cripple the performance of the GPU.

To answer your question though at 1900x1200 with every option maxed including AA I am pegged at 60fps with Vsync on. That's even in the Aldor and Scryer banks in Shatt. I have the 7811 but I don't think our rigs are all that different and WoW is hardly a GPU intensive game.

Nice stats, and yea I figured I'd at least get a nice solid 40-50fps outdoors where there aren't too many people. Windows is definitely not fully recognizing my card, which is why it's not letting me install drivers under a normal boot. I can only install the 177.79 in safe mode which I think is not doing it correctly. But that's the only way I can install anything. If I try any method under a normal windows boot, I get the same message as in the pic posted above.
