Hey guys, I am having trouble trying to change the fan speed of my GPU. Because I played left 4 dead last night for about 2 hrs and HWM indicated that max temp i reached during the game was 100c... which isn't good in my book, so i want to make sure that fan is running 100 percent when im playing games. Anyway I tried rivatuner/EVGA precision and Nvidia system tools but none of them are letting me. I spent almost 3 hrs trying to figure it out but i just can not come up with a solution. I will really appreciate it if anyone can help me out with this. I am currently running windows 7 on my 7805u and using 181.72 for windows 7 at the moment (i tried so many different drivers already to see if these programs will let me change my fan speed but it was no go... :( ) thanks in advance!

I dont recommend trying to mess with the fan speed settings of the GPU, because it will automatically increase the speed to close to 100% on a need basis.... it does not make sense to run the fan full speed on games that do not require it and unltimately will wear out the fan sooner rather than later..... I suggest you just prop the back of the laptop up or invest in a cooler.... best thing you can do

Reaching 100 centigrade is not a good thing in anyones book for GPU's... but then again they are rated to up to 130C in some cases....just get a good cooler and do not play in an area where the ambient (room) temperature is high.....

Thanks for your input. I would love to purchase a cooler for me to use but i wont be able to get one anytime soon (had to pay bunch of bills) and i heard that factory fan speed settings are lower than what it should be, so who knows how fast my fan was spinning when the temperature reached 100c. I also used couple books and stuck it under the laptop for better air flow but obviously it didnt do much knowing that the temp got up to 100c. Anyway thanks again and im looking to hear from more people.

adding to this. is there a way to set the fan speed, I know alienware Fn F2 will put the fan speed to 100% I want to be able to do this for crysis. the cooler i can keep it the better.

Im using a cooler and was reaching 74*c with slight overclock. I believe this is still ok. but tonight i went out and got a new cooler with a stand. hopefully this helps.

Yea it doesnt work, there are hard-locked fan speeds, and that cannot be changed.

Thats good! the thing about the cooling setup in these laptops is that the intakes are at the bottom, so pushing air through those intakes will help a lot. Even just raising would help.

also the fans on the pad rotate air the same way as the fans on the laptop.
