after few hours cpu ~80c gpu ~70c HDD ~47c thats the max i've seen
and that's with a "hot" cpu upgrade. don't know which cpu you are looking into.

the laptop doesn't feel that hot, no issue continue playing, never had bsod or any artifacts, even with an overclocked gpu.

Sorry you lost me there. I would just like to know if it gets hot enough to damage some of the hardware or be too hot to touch.

royk50 used a internal hardware monitoring program to track the temperatures of several internal components of the notebook. On his notebook, he has a hot cpu (processor) upgrade, meaning he manually replaced the one that comes from Gateway with a more powerful one which is also hotter during operation. After a few hours of being "on", the processor was 80 degrees C, graphics card was 70 degrees C, and the hard drive was 47 degrees C.

According to royk50, the notebook didn't feel too hot, he never had the BSoD ( Blue Screen of Death), and the graphics card worked as normal even though he manually set it to perform more operations per second than what it was rated for by the manufacturer.

Hope that helped decipher his post. Based on that info, I'd say that it's definitely not going to damage any hardware and unless you have an amazingly low heat tolerance it's not too hot to touch either.

You need to stop smoking whatever it is you are hitting.

The 172's right handrest gets somewhat warm due to the placement of the hard drives, but that's a fairly common issue with laptops.

It doesn't get hot enough for it to be damaging your parts, but if you're worried about that, grab a cooler.

I am too. Does anybody know how much of a difference a 1920x1200 LCD and a 1440x900 LCD in terms of quality? If I ignore the LCD, I could get the SFX and upgrade it with better HDD and CPU than the XFX for the rougly the same price... the LCD price is killer though.

    lol

Danja thanks for the translation and i thought i was clear :)

just to add it wasn't just on it was running crysis on high settings for over 6 hours
and lately Mass Effect on highest settings for even longer periods.

[looking at right hand] why is it black and smell like a steak ?

not really, just a bit warm, you will not receive a "saint" title from the Vatican using this one.
