Just how hot do you let your GPU go before you stop gaming or doing whatever you're doing? I'm just asking cause I'm curious what would be a good threshold temp for me to stop playing at.. right now I let it run up to around 85.. but I try to max it at 80 for the most part..
I'm going to have to clean out the vents soon, but my room's usually really hot just because it's summer, but I might just have to get a cooler if that doesn't solve the issue.

about 80-85c
try sitting something under the battery to lift it up about 3/4 of an inch off the desk/table or what ever it is sitting on. and let us know if the temps drop a bit. -
the highest mine has gone while i did monitor it was about 75-80.cooling in my room isn't a problem, i have an air conditioner built in the wall about 1-2 feet away from my desk.if i leave it on high all night it gets about 40-50 in my room.

mine rarely passes 75, highest is 78

I chose 75 because thats as low as you allowed
But i dont think i've ever seen that temp. Even stress testing my 6860 i dont think i've ever broken 70... i think 67 was as high as i've ever seen.
But i keep my house at 70deg(f) and i use a cooler. I'm still debating as to if i should bite the bullet and crack the case open get to the GPU to AS5 it. I dont think i really need to, but i've become slightly obsessive about low temps so i'll probably do it next time i get off work (14 or so days from now) -
85 degrees but I'm using an X9000 at 3GHz.
-
around 77-80 max
usually under 75 -
I hit 95c on the graphics card once the other day, becuse I was lazy and just had the laptop on my lap while gaming. My driver version acording to dxdiag is 7.15.0011.7485.
Usually when gaming mine runs around 75-80 when sitting on my desk or on the aluminum stand I have made. -
-
Mine is usually at 65ish and never goes beyond 71.

Well, the question was more of.. how hot would you let it go to before you stop doing whatever you were doing, rather than how hot has it actually gotten..
-
you cpu will down clock it's self to keep from over heating. usually around 98c or so and the gpu will take a major slowdown if it gets to hot...it will drop to like 200/100/500 or something like that. or your display driver will take a hit and you will need to reboot or disable and then re enable it to get it to function correctly.... but not if you put power settings to full throttle with no clock down...the computer will just shut off. i have done it all already to see what was going to happen if you tried to over heat it by game play and running orthos in the back ground. so...if you dont mess with the settings, the lappy will undervolt it self down for about 1 second every time it hits 98c or so degrees & starts down clocking gpu depending on whos inf file you use.... hope this helps.

wow, john you are quite good, that's exactly what happened to me today when i oced my GPU to 660/900. the game crashes and the drive stops working and recovers, when i restarted the game it runs at 8 FPS lol i had to restart the computer to get it to work. but i used HWmonitor the whole time and the max temp is 80C, which isn't that high

I am surprised how hot some of your FX's are running!
I had an Asus G1s that ran in the upper 90's (GPU) on a Zalman cooler when running Crysis. However, I put a deck of cards under the back of my FX 6831 (to create a little extra airflow) and I have never seen temps above 72C. I don't overclock the GPU so maybe that is the difference. I do have a T9300 and run raid 0 so there is potential for heat in the laptop itself. Overall, I am very pleased with the cooling system of the laptop.

Are we talking Celcius or Fahrenheit? My Processor never goes over 50C . I actually got done Playing Crysis on high settings for the last 3 hours and right after I checked the cpu temp and it only showed 44C At idle the T-9300 only sees about 29-31c
-
mine has never gone above 80c.
using erasers or like me, empty printer cartridges, to lift the back of ur FX off the table REALLY helps my temps when gaming and prevent the shutoffs I used to have due to overheating. -
and yes, the t9300 has the lowest temps out of all the chips. it ill go as low as 20 or so degrees. -
In regards to Hardware Monitor, it will show the max temps since it was first started up. Simply start it just before you start a particular game and it will show the max temps reached while you were playing the game.
-
or you can just hit view then clear min/max and it will reset
How hot(for FX users mainly)
