Judging by the density of users that seem to experience this on the forum, I would assume this to be pretty standard on P7811-FX models.

How many of you actually have this on a black screen or dark image? It would be lining the very bottom.

The reason I am asking is because if I find out that by exchanging my unit I would have a good chance of getting one without...I might do it. I realize this is "normal" for a lot of LCDs out there, but I am more interested in how normal it is for the P7811-FX.

Are the odds against us if we try to exchange? Is it even worth it?

FYI so people dont get turned away from this machine. I do not consider this a con, as it is rarely seen or noticed. (I still need to try watching a movie though) I am just trying to figure out how much perfection I can expect from this particular LCD.

Ewww, cant edit the typo in my topic :p

Pretty sure the minor bleeding is on almost all LCD screens. If there's nothing else wrong with the machine, I don't think _Best Buy would even give an exchange for that problem.

I have this as well, I assume it to be standard. It does not make any differences when objects or images are displayed, the windows taskbar does not even look any different.

I agree. The only time I have actually ever seen it is while in a dark cave or something when playing Elder scrolls Oblivion. And it was still fairly minor.

A light halo glow around the perimeter is pretty standard. However, if there are areas where it "spikes" then it is outside of "normal". I'm sensitive to these kinds of things, and have had a number of good examples of a bad backlight bleed. It is possible for a clean and dark look around the perimeter, but chances of getting this with a $1400 laptop with the specs of the 7811 is pretty small.

I am not sure about bleeding but I see a fuzzy ghosting when I look at a black screen from the side.

mine has very minor and i do mean minor bleed and the reason i wouldnt go back looking for a new one without it, is the fear of getting one with a dead pixel and then trying to exchange it again. i am very happy with my machine.

Ditto. Windows taskbar looks identical. As to movies, I always watch movies in the dark, and I watched a few fullscreen and didn't notice the backlight leakage at all, even though I can see it against a solid black background in Windows. It definitely didn't bother me. These were horror movies too, so much dark/black to make faults more obvious. It's just not a big enough thing to worry about, to me anyway.

I've also seen people with other makes of laptops talking about this, so it's apparently very common in laptops.
