How often do you bring your FX notebook out of the house?

I'm not sure about you guys, but I rarely bring my laptop outside. I naively thought I was going to when I first bought this, as I wanted a powerful laptop with a huge screen to use when I go out. Then I realized how awkward it was bring such a monster out, and also how impractical it was due to its huge NOISE, low battery life, and low backlight brightness (can't see anything in sun). I bought a cheap Toshiba laptop instead and it is much better out of the house.

That said, I do see some people bring monster notebooks out sometimes, and piques my interest to see how many of you FX owners actually use this laptop as a true laptop and not a desktop replacement. Your thoughts?

I used to bring my Laptop out of the house every day to work. I would bring it downstairs and use it on my breaks. At home I would either hook it up to my Plasma HDTV or like I am doing now, to my 3d Projector. LOVING Batman Arkham City in Stereo 3d on my 100 inch display btw ;)

I don't use mine outside but I take my laptop around a friends house or work. I'm quite careful (Anal if you would call it) when it comes to taking laptops out of the house, especially the FX. I have to make sure it's wrapped in a towel when it goes in the car so it's doesn't slide around, get scratched or suffer a bump from potholes when driving. But the one thing that REALLY REALLY bugs me is when people point at something on the screen, they have to actually touch the screen with their fingers and I get angry because they don't realise I clean my display to a spotless mirror finish, no fingerprints, no smearing, no marks and they come along and go "Oh what's that?", touch my screen and look at me while I stare at them with such anger like I've just found out someone has slept with my wife. DON'T TOUCH THE F*****G SCREEN! Rant over. :)

I totally feel you on the touching of the screen part haha
It's so annoying! Like really? You want to leave your fingerprints on my baby? Don't you see the colors when you touch the screen.. YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO TOUCH IT, JUST POINT! XD

If I go overnight and will have time to use a computer, my FX7811 desktop replacement goes with me (still working flawlessly). If I only need to access email, my Android phone is enough.

It will be a sad day when my FX assumes room temp permanently.

Looking at the poll, I guess most people still just use it in the house alone. But it seems people do bring it out. Once I get my p7801u fixed, I might start taking mine out too; my Toshiba's low res screen really strain my eyes.

Im a graphic designer so I bring my p7811fx to work. It should be labeled as a graphic designer laptop not a gaming one. Too many issues with gaming, but handles all my graphic tools flawlessly. It is quite heavy, and if I wasn't a huge russian refrigerator dude, it would be quite a burden to carry it in a backpack everyday. Can cause back pains at the end of the day. Would not recommend if you are doing something that does not require immense graphical power and ram, like typing, websurfing or watching movies, would not recommend for gaming either UNLESS you use could technology like OnLive, cause its kind of like watching a movie.

My FX is primarly a desktop replacement first and then if I need more portable power then I will take my FX with me. What alot of people forget when asking about how often they take the FX out is the cost to replace if they should ever drop or break their FX of which cost way more then mid grade laptop to replace. That is the thing one should be asking if are you willing to take out your high end heavy FX laptop and then damage it could you cough up the money to buy a new or fix the FX for what it would cost to replace a mid-grade laptop? They also have mid-grade laptop with decent graphics if you willing to part with little more money as well. But not knowing what model of Toshiba your using and saying bad viewing doesn't give much data to go on other then the drivers are the wrong drivers your using or your cleartype setting is improperly set. I know my FX is a heavy weight compared to my M-6860 and Dell E1525 and Toshibia L305, Gateway NV52. I take those smaller light weight for portability. But as anything if you want to portable your FX then by all means go right ahead but be aware the cost to replace a high end gaming laptop cost way more then a mid-grade not to mention if it gets stolen.

That's is how I plan it for my laptop needs only and only if I do long stays then I will take the power house FX for my computing needs.

LOL... nah I doubt it it's a choice each one of us must make and weight the pro and cons of taking such a heavy laptop outdoors.

LOL, Same here, to work every night along with a couple of smaller lappy's. I think my right shoulder has a permanent dent in it from all the laptop bag straps and weight.
