    How to force install RAID driver in Vista? P6831FX

    I recently bought two 320gb drives to replace the original 250gb with a RAID configuration. I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit and backed up the drive image through the Backup & Restore Center (with the BIOS set to ACHI and the ACHI driver installed). Therefore, when I try to restore the image to the new RAID array, since the image does not have the RAID drivers installed, it won't boot.

    If I delete the array and switch BIOS back to ACHI I am able to restore the image to a single disk.

    I've tried many ways, including the Intel Matrix, to silent install the RAID drivers to system before imaging but can't manage to get it to work. Any ideas?

    A clean install is just too much of a pain at this point.

    Only mods to system are a T9300, and Vista Ultimate.

    You will have to go into the bios and change it from ACHI to RAID then reboot and after the post screen hit Ctrl+i to enter into the intel raid controller. then from there you can choose your raid type. At least thats how its done on a 78xx hopefuly 68xx isnt that different. Also you might need a bios update hopefully someone might have links to info on the bios for the 68xx series and which ones support said if it does.

    After installing the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, have you tried using the Intel Matrix Storage console to rebuild the array from a single drive? Or try rebuilding from the single drive through the RAID conroller BIOS?

    I can build the array without problem, it's restoring the image from a non-raid drive to a raid drive that I'm having trouble with.

    I tried the Intel Matrix Storage console, but without the RAID drivers installed it won't give me any options to build. It only shows the individual drives. I don't recall an option to rebuild through the bios from a single drive. It only allows you to create and destroy arrows.

    Still looking for some way to force install the RAID drivers on my single drive system so that when I save the image and then try to restore it to an array the drivers will already be present in the OS.
