Does anyone know how to get the sound to come out of an HDMI-connected device as opposed to the notebook speakers? I think the HDMI port on the 6862 is capable of carrying sound because running the sound test from the sound control panel does cause a sound to play from my HDMI device.

Sorry if this has already been answered. I did a search for 'HDMI Sound' and couldn't find anything relevant.

in your sound control panel, set the default output device to HDMI.

Does it require a restart or anything like that? I was tinkering with it just now and am able to get sound through Window Media Center, but no other program.

    Thanks for the help btw.

edit: nevermind. I think I got the hang of it now. =D
