    It should work, as long as it fits the bay it should work because other than the extra features they offer they usually are standardized to work for more than just a few specific laptop bays

    No problem... worst case scenario is that you buy it... you install it and for some reason you have some kind of complication... newegg should allow you to return it with good reason... but like I said it probably would not even come to that... make sure you do the research first

    yeah I'm doing the research now and it does appear as though all the slim drives on newegg will work, now I need to decide if I'm going to be irresponsible and spend that kind of money or just get a replacement, lol

    yeah I guess I wasn't too specific, I'm looking for a dvd or blu ray drive as mine no longer works! But as you can see in my sig I have a WD scorpio as well and love it too.

    oh sorry, I guess I misread your initial post, I thought you were asking about a hard drive

    i'm not too sure about replacing the optical drive, that's an excellent question, let me know what you find out.

    does anyone have a slot load on their gateway, and if so how does it fit compared to a tray? ( as far as the faceplate is concerned?)
