Hey guys, just wondering what program I can use to overclock my cpu. I know that Gateway locks the BIOS and cpu, but I have seen in some posts where they did it somehow. I want to tinker around a little. Are there any advantages to underclocking? I guess what I'm asking is I just want to learn about my computer and how they work a little bit more. Thanks for your help.

can you overclock? no, you cannot overclock the CPU. no on your specific laptop anyways.

Are there any advantages to underclocking? yes, it keeps your laptop cool and use less battery. your computer CPU does this constantly all the time, you just dont knotice it. once it idles it underclocks to about 800mhz or so depeing on what processor you have. when you run programs or do things that require processing your CPU instantly jumps back up to max speed or near max speed dependending the situation.

Ok, I was just wondering. I wish I could find the post again that says they are using a 3rd party app to overclock. It doesn't matter too much, I just wanted to tinker some. Thanks
