    I bought this gateway and it came with Xp home (pretty dumb for a 1000$ laptop) anyways is it true that HT dosent work with Home

    Yes, unfortunately. Confirm by pressing Ctrl-Alt-del and clicking the performance tab. One or two CPU graphs? Be sure to disable HT in BIOS if it's not being used.

    Actually, in Hardware there was a long discussion about this, and the consensus is that HT works in XP Home. Check your DXDiag.

    My mistake, thanks for the info. Here's another test: Get a program like cpuburn and run it. Then try to do other things. On my HT machine, there is no slow down. On my non HT machine, everything else takes at least 10 times as long.

    i just found out HT does worth with home, but if you have 2 phyical processors then it wont work
