My new P-6860FX laptop came in the mail just now! UPS managed to get it here a lot quicker than I anticipated. I was thinking it wouldn't arrive until end of this week or beginning of next week.

Right now I'm in the process of backing up everything I need from the temporary old desktop I'm currently using. But, very soon, I shall be using this new laptop extensively! Can't wait to be able to play all of the games I have with these better components compared to my previous Inspiron 9400 that died.

    CAN'T WAIT! :D

Congrats! That's a pretty decent video card that it comes with. I've heard a lot of good things about this Toshiba model before. Enjoy it! :)

This post I'm now typing from the laptop. I love this thing, but I'm going to need some time to get used to this keyboard. Smaller keys and a separate numpad makes things confusing and forcing me to make a lot of backspaces.

Once I configure the system to my needs, I want to see how well it works with some of today's games...

It was, TG Canada. I got it and their 1-year warranty, and it came to a grand total of ~$1300 with tax.

    Congrats. I love my 7811!

1300? I'm guessing this is not in US dollars? Because if so that is quite over payed.

(I just did a converter, and if that is Canadian, it would be roughly 1,000 American. Which is still a hefty price for a laptop that is a few months old. The new 7805's are 1149 ish.

What Toshiba? Isn't this thread about a P-6860FX?

That P-6860FX is going to be 100% better than that Inspiron rig you had.

One of my Best Buys down here has 2 P6860Fx left one is unopened and brand new the other has been optimized by geek squad. maybe I should see what the price is on those right now since they have been discontinued for a while now. I didnt know people still bought the older gateways FXs since the 7xxx series came out.

Optimized by geek squad, lololol. It was probably just a return. Sorry but I wouldn't want to buy anything "new" that has already been opened.

Its probably the same thing we all do on here, do a clean resintall of the OS and drivers. Except they charge $50 to do this haha.

I know they don't reinstall the OS, too time consuming, plus there is no real benefits over uninstalling all the crap yourself which takes a fraction of the time.

Use pcdecrapifier, fast, free, and it works... you may need to reboot and uninstall Norton yourself.

I have the 6860fx as well and love it. I quickly got used to the keyboard with one glaring exception. I don't think I will ever get used to the control and function key swapping places. Sure wish there was a way to remap. Other than that, I love it.
