I know I'm about a year late to the party on this notebook, but I got it for an unbeatable deal. When I first got it I was disapointed because the first thing I tried to test the system with was the F.E.A.R. 2 demo. It would only play for about 5 mins before a total shutdown. I ran GPUZ and found the GPU was sitting idle at about 78c. I figured that was a bit hot. I had already ordered a T9300 before I even got the notebook (jumping the gun a bit I guess)... Anyway, when I got the processor I dissabmled the whole thing and the heat sink fins were caked with crap. So i hosed the whole inside down with canned air. I installed the T9300 with AS5 on the CPU and other chip on the same heatpipe (Northbridge I suppose). After this I'm now sitting at about 42c idle on the GPU and 41c on the CPU. This notebook is amazing now. It can tear up the FEAR 2 demo now. Not bad for $500 for the 6831fx and $170 for the T9300.

eBay.. It's new but it's a Q-spec processor, meaning Engineering Sample. I haven't found anything flakey or problematic about it. It seems to run everything fine.. not even a hint of a crash. Search eBay for QADX in titles and descriptions and you will see it. There are other speeds out there too. Seemed worth the savings to give it a shot.

wow thats a sweet deal, welcome to the 6831 club i guess. i got the same model about 2 months ago for 625 on ebay too. i took out the old cpu and installed a t8300 from my friends laptop that he doesnt use anymore. also could out the 250gb drive and put 2 new 320gb drives in it. i got through ebay, its brand new with no scratches on it, it just came with a fresh OS installed with no recovery disks. but i dont mind it, where else can you get a nice gaming computer with a screen for around 600 or even 500 in your case. i keep that beast at home all the time and use my HP 2510p with 9 cell battery and 8 hour battery life for everyday use out side the home.
