Avi. format video that is. Anyone of thm I download seems to do the sound, but not the picture, almost as though vista is attempting to force me not to tape it with my EEEeeeeeeeeeeevil PIRATCAM O'Doom. Anyone have ideas? I'm using winamp btw.

Have you installed the DIVX codec? If not, then download this bad boy.

I recommend K-Lite Mega Pack for all your codec needs, just google and install it and you'll prob never need to dl a video codec again.

OK, try this. If this doesn't render videos nothing will. Let me know if that works or not and I might know what the problem is. Also tell me if you get a screen that says the overlay mixer is in use, select a different renderer.

PS- I SWEAR by KMPlayer. Best thing since IUDs. Well, almost.

    HAH!

    LOVE that avatar, Dook!

So, Dook, should I return the unopened M-6864FX to Best Buy, and get that refurb P-6860FX at Tiger?

Has anyone RECEIVED theirs that you know of?
    What did it come with?

I mean, I wanted something manageable like 14.1" or 15.4", but for $50 more than the M-6864FX.....

no need to get mad, i was just saying it shouldn't be all that hard to play a video file, and you can usually find what you need with a quick google search.

and i know that is what the forums are for, but there have been so many times where i've been on a forum and someone who is having trouble wants a walkthrough on what to do and not try to figure it out on their own.

anyways, have you tried changing any settings? i think this happened to me with media player classic a long time ago, i changed a couple of settings and all was fine.

Thanks! And to be honest, I would jump on that 6860fx with a quickness if I were you. True, its going to be bigger, but in the end, I think you'll be MUCH more satisfied with your purchase. I know one person that boyght a 6860 refurb and it came with everything a brand new one did.

TigerDirect owns CompUSA, and CompUSA recently had that same laptop on sale (dead deal now) for $700. A few members here say it's already been shipped, so I would definitely hop on it if I were you.

I use zoomplayer and it's been the best so far for me. It's smooth, quick, simple, and installs all the codecs you need too.

Ordered. Quick enough for ya? :)

    $874.53 including shipping and Tax.

I went through the live.com link - how's that work?
That means I'd be getting 10% of $800 back, right?

Do they send a confirmation email or something? the live.com click-through?
Of course, if the 8800 end up being a defective chip, and I just ordered a refurb, BOY am I scr3w3d!!!

Groovy mah brotha! A wise choice, you have made. And I'm willing to bet my peanut butter sandwich nothing is going to happen to your gpu. I think that whole nvidia thing is WAY overblown. There haven't even been any reports of the 8800Ms prematurely ejac...err dying. :D

    I'm sure it'll be fine.

Ya think a SquareTrade $95 1YR warranty is worth it?
Now I can't wait for THAT sumb!tch to arrive - wish they had 'em in the stores. I'd be coming home with one tonight!!

Guess I got a new learning curve - Can't remember the last time I had an Nvidia GPU - CHipset, yes. Goes back to the Ti5400 or something. WAAAY back.

Homey gonna be leaning on ya for advice, ya know.
After all - it's YOUR fault I got it :D

LOL. No worries. I'll be happy to help with the advice any way I can. And as far as the ST warranty, people are really raving about them. I, personally, have only bought one and thank God, never had to use it, so I cant recommend one way or the other based on experience. But again, people seem to like them.

Dude - that's just TOO good of a deal to pass up.
Again, it's only $50 more than the M-6864FX HD2600 setup!

As I said, I know my youngest boy will appreciate it - he's loving the computer games more, and the Xbox360 a little less...

if just a black box, it can be your gpu is trying to direct the video to the external screen (even if not connected) just press few times the fn+ (external monitor key) - sorry not on my rig cant remember which one is it.

Without knowing which lappie, royk50's suggestion, if it happens to be an M-6851/M-6850FX/M-6864FX/M-6867/M-6862/M-15xx series, it's [Fn]+[F4]
