Money is not an issue! I use it for gaming & media storage. I would like 1TB+ SSD's, better video card/card's if possible, blu-ray burner, CPU. I don't know the MOBO specs, so I hope yall could work your magic and help me turn my laptop into a desktop replacement.

Don't believe they made make enough SSD's for 1TB,
    Largest I found at 256GB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2003240636 1421446019&name=256GB

Video Card is soldered on, so you can't really remove it.

CPU- X9100 You can't overclock it, but it does have the highest clock speed (3.1ghz I think)
(You can't overclock for the gateway, they max OC at 3ghz. It the CPU has a regular clock speed over that it will take, but you can't OC the X9100 any since it is over that 3ghz threshold.

If money really isnt an issue sell the P7805 and get a clevo/sager/alienware/et al or just give the thing to someone. Otherwise I'd go with:
T9800 (x9100 isnt hardly worth the cash since you cant overclock it)
    2x X25-M 160GB ssds
    and 2x4gb of ram
Of course you'll have spent 3.5 times what you paid for the laptop for all that...

Then you're insane for buying a 7811. Why not just get a 9262 or Arima 860?

There's no point in spending 3000 dollars to upgrade a 1000 dollar notebook when you can just spend 3K and "GET" a top of the line notebook. With better specs and better base equipment.

If money is no issue, then get this beast.

It makes a lot of gaming desktops look wimpy.

Edit: Do you have a 7811 already? If so, then you probably wasted some money. If I could return this and get a Sager, I would. But even if I return my 7811, I'd still be about $800 short of the sager. Then again, at that price, you might as well just get a high end desktop.

My god! I can't be reading that right. The 17'' whitebook says it comes with 2 HD3870s. Aren't those desktop cards? And isn't the HD3870 better than the 8800 GTX? lol, that blows Sager's notebook out of the water.

Those are Mobility Radeon HD 3870 x2...and are not equivalent to desktop cards.

That Sagar you posted with its dual 9800m GTX are faster than the whitebook's dual mobility 3870s'

Oh, ok then. Like I said, I can't be reading that right :p.

Still, the fact that it runs on a 12 cell battery should have tipped me off.

They're both beautiful machines though. I think if you're going to get a laptop for the soul purpose of entertainment, then you should buy one with an upgradable GPU.

You heard me. That's exactly what I meant.

On an unrelated note, what's the word for when you feel like your wang is smaller than average?

    Oh yeah, it's impotent.

Hmm.. "biggy smalls"? And, I beg to differ..these cards are stronger than the GTXs. Matter of opinion though.

GFX card "discussions" will never end, just like the gateway 1gb vs 512mb 9800 discussions... we can never come to 1 conclusion. that's the beauty of it lol

human nature to see a larger number as better... we will never know... and bigger doesnt always mean better  and I never said that 1 gb is worse than 512mb... if you look at the 7805u there was an argument about 7811 vs 7805 gfx... read it up

Can you give me a link to the argument. I really can't see how the 1gb version wouldn't be better than the 512mb version. I always thought the 7805 was superior, but that was only because I assumed it had a slightly better graphics card.

I'm not sure there even is a legitimate "mobile x38". I wonder if they're just using a desktop X38 re-purposed in a laptop?

They claim with this vid, that the Asus W90VP has 3xDimm Slots, so 6GB DDR2 .... but can't it support the new 4GB Modules?????? I hope so! 12GB baby!

Santa Rosa and later mobile chipsets can support the 4GB Modules I've heard, but since this may be a desktop chipset, using a SO-DIMM as opposed to DIMM slot, I guess it is using the desktop X38 memory controller anyway... so we should spec off that?

The vid also claims over 15K on 3dMark06! Yay, but the Gateway 7811fx gets what, near 10K, and it can handle the 4GB Modules (8GB) right? Good enough for me! I like myself a 120watt power brick as opposed to a 200+watt ;)
