I've had my experience with the lockups in WoW with windows 7 installed, but until last night I wanted to pull my hair out because of their complete randomness. Well last night I found a spot if WoW (43,29 in the storm peaks, flying south along the upper right edge of the columns if anyone cares) that makes me instantly lock up EVERY TIME in less than a second of logging in.
As incredibly fail as it sounds, it gave me a controlled test environment to start playing with things. I started by clearing addons, reducing settings and running a clean wow install, still locked up in that spot every time. My next step was to set all graphics options to the defaults, this time including resolution. No more lock ups!
After playing with the resolution to test what I found, I discovered that anything above the laptops "factory shipped" 1400 x 900 resolution caused the lockups, anything below did not. And I have been able to reproduce the issue, multiple times, multiple days, and can do it any time I feel the need.

Just got my response back from Gateway "Technical Support..."
"Since your system is out of warranty and you didn't buy your copy of Windows 7 through an authorized upgrade source, here's how you can contact the paid support service team..."

Try this fix. Could be a heat issue:
1. Download the latest version of RivaTuner here: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner
2. Install RivaTuner and Run the program.
3. In the Main tab, click on the arrow next to Customize under Driver Settings to bring up more options then click System Settings (the first Icon)
4. In the Overclocking tab, where it says "Force constant performance level" select performance 3D.
5. Click apply, and reboot the system when prompted.
If for some reason the "Force constant performance level" drop-down is grayed out you will need to go to the "Power users" tab in the initial RivaTuner window. Then click on the "+" next to "RivaTuner \ NVIDIA \ Overclocking". Look for "EnablePerfLevelForcing" and under Value type 1. Click apply, this should allow you to modify "Force constant performance level." Finally, follow steps 3-5 above.
I've Isolated the P7805u FX lockup issue, now what...
