System #1 is too small of screen size.
I would lean towards the Gateway because of 1920x1200 resolution and triple channel ram. The MSI of course has a better graphics card. Both systems CPU's can be maxed out. So knowing that I would probably buy one of the 2 systems above for around $800 and immediately spend another $400-$600 on in upgrades, I would probably back up and re-evaluate: For about the same money you can get this:

    ASUS G73JH-A1

Just a thought. Its what I would do.

P-7805u supports quads? Don't think so.
But I'm pretty sure you can stick a Q9200 (great value) in the GT725.

You can't swap the GPU in the gateway.

What is triple channel ram good for anyway? Might get you 1-2 FPS more.

Anyway the best gamer out of those three is the MSI because it's GPU is far better.

BTW you can overclock the CPU in the msi, but not the gateway. not sure about the asus, probably possible with setfsb.

The screen in the gateway is good though, but I guess if you're pretty good with computers it's not hard to upgrade the screen in the msi (if you can find a good one).

Out of those three, I would take the MSI (just because it's more powerful). And I would hate to have a notebook with an nvidia card that you couldn't remove, yes I know the BGA problems are pretty much gone, but there are still some people complaining about the 9800m GPUs.

I'm not sure why Evil Claw mentioned the G73, I doubt you could get that for $800... (unless it was dropped down some stairs :p)

Though if you can find a deal like this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Asus-G73-Gaming...ViewItem&pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item1c127a0bad

    Would be worth getting.
But then again, at that price the MSI GX640 with the same GPU can be bought.

Still that's not anywhere near $800.

If only there was a system around $800 with a 5870, I would get one myself lol.

I didn't mention Quad cores, are you putting words in my mouth? Most in this forum know that quad cores won't work in the 7805u. What I said above is that "both systems CPU's can be maxed out." To that end you would need to know what is the most powerful chip you can put in these machines, for 7805u, its the T9900 or x9100. Both of those are several steps up from the P8400 or P8600 that comes with the units.
My point without actually saying it was, "do you really want to buy old and upgrade OR spend the same amount of $$ and get what you want without having to go through the hassles upgrades, compatible drivers, etc...and just buy the ASUS or something else that has what you want in it?

Wow. Are you even reading my posts before you flame me? I said:

"probably buy one of the 2 systems above for around $800 and immediately spend another $400-$600 on in upgrades,..."

That would equate to $1200 to $1400.

I don't think he is going to upgrade as soon as he gets it, yes that would be the wrong thing to do. If you have $1200 right now, get something with the 5850/5870. But if you have $800, get the MSi.

Well sorry about that. But did you read the first post, nowhere did he say he would upgrade those systems (and what would you even upgrade in the gateway, just the CPU, not going to get you much bang for buck).

    @ Moral Hazard:
Looking back through these posts, it looks like we agree somewhat, but we are just not on the same wavelength. However, just post what he asked for and stop attacking what I said.

U should include prices, that kinda matters 2 ya know. And inwould go with 2 or 3 because of the bigger screens. But if I was too get a new notebook I'd go with a 17" screen, i7, bluray are a must 4 me. Ohh but I'd hold out for a nvidia 400 series video card. Just my opinion though.
