Just installed an internal Broadcom bluetooth module and replaced the Intel 5100 AGN with an Atheros 5008x. I just reused the old black and white antennas and added the third wire that came with the Atheros. The third wire is so short it only reaches up to the media keys below the lcd so it was much easier than I thought it would be.

Hopefully these links work as they look pretty funky.

You can thank your fellow NBR member for that picture. One of the early experimenters documented his installation and sent the pictures and instructions to the seller. Mike something (BigMike?)....

His thread should turn up in a search.

It looks like it has both the 2.4 & 5 GHz frequency spectrum support (A + BGN) i.e. dual band which is faster.

Yes the fn key turns bluetooth off/on. No antenna. I haven't really tested the range or anything but I use it with a Logitech MX Revolution mouse about 12 feet away with no problems.

I had speed problems and dropouts with the 5100agn and have had Atheros in the past with no problems. I have an Atheros on my Samsung Q1 Ultra, another laptop both with zero issues.
