Want to try and get Win 10 up and running on my old 7811. Went thru an old thread on here and it looks to be possible. Trying not to lose any of my old data and programs. I am currently running in RAID 0 so I don't know how that will affect the upgrade if I try to do it from within Win 7 vs disc. Any suggestions????
thanks

Late to the party but installed W10 32 bit version directly over original Vista 32 bit with 3 gigs of ram on original P-6831 FX. I used the 32 bit ISO downloaded direct from Microsoft then burned to a DVD. All of one hour later, windows did the leg work for drivers with no issues found other than huge layer of dust collected over the years. After Christmas I'll look to going 64bit and another gig of ram if my version of bios will support it.
EDIT
Added spare Samsung SSD in the above mix. Wow, wish I could have afforded this 10 years ago. I believe the 6831 has the Sata-150 specs but very snappy with boot and some updated apps. Three areas where the hardware has small issues. Sound, fixed with cheap usb DAC; mouse pad, fixed with usb mouse and wireless would randomly drop out after sleeping laptop. As long as I did full shutdown, no further issues with wireless. Old Blac-X Sata Drive Dock did fine job for cloning and file transfer. My youngest snapped it away to college, LSU, so did not have time to optimize old paint.Last edited: Dec 28, 2020
