I am gonna add an Intel 5300 wifi card with MIMO technology. I was wondering where I could get the additional antennas to add to the card. Do any of you know? Also, to anyone who has made the switch, did you notice any gain in speed or do you think the upgrade was worth it? Thanks for the help.

I did this upgrade a while back. I got the card and the extra antenna off of ebay for cheap. I didnt notice anything speed wise, but the connection is much more stable than the old 5100 card...

I've switched a few 5100 cards and replaced it with the 5300s on several laptops. Performance wise, you wouldn't notice the difference when you're on the G and/or N band.

Jonlumpkin has noted some of his observations that basically states the negligible speed difference between these 2 cards:

I did the switch. To me it not only transfers my files quicker on my network, but seems more responsive on my internet downloads as well. My range definitely increased as well as being able to set it beyond the 150mbps holdup I had with the Wifi 5100. ( I use the Intel manager for the Wifi 5300 and get a solid 300mbps).

I did add the third wire and ran it up behind the LCD along side of the others. I bought the card on Amazon.com and the third grey wire on ebay. For the cost I'm happy with the up-grade. Hope this helps.
