I have read narsnail benchmarks but he was using a very out dated driver so im guessing the performance increases may be higher now.
For those you guys who have this CPU installed in you FX's.
1. how does the cpu perform
2. how high can you overclock it
3. how much of an FPS boost did you get in Far Cry 2, Crysis, Warhead, UT3
4. What the purchase worth the money
5. DO I HAVE TO UPDATE MY BIOS OR CAN I INSTALL IT ONCE I GET IT
6. DO YOU RECCOMEND THAT I RE INSTALL MY OS AFTER INSTALLING THE CPU

LOL 12 fps is massive.
That sounds very good.
Does OC the CPU have additional gaming benefits, as in more Frames Per second or higher min frame per second.
I was also wondering if OC this CPU will decrease it life span as much as OC a gpu does. A 3.0 ghz OC sounds good, do you have any instability with it, does it ever overheat. -
If intel give an unlocked multiplier to a mobile CPU, im sure it would be more then stable, mine was always stable.
and no it wont decrease the lifespan, because your not upping the voltage or anything. -
so narsnail do you ageree with that 12 frames per second boost.
-
Only in certain games was in 12 fps. in 3dmark06 it was around a 8-10 increase at 3 Ghz. I should also mention that it increased my score by 2200 points from 7200 to 9400.
-
depends on the game, I had some where there was a minimal effect, like 5 fps(5 in crysis is alot though), and then others there was more, like between 30 and 200 more.
-
5 FPS in crysis is like 20 more in any other game lol.
But 5 fps. LOL that is a lot. -
Yeah, The thing's basically a t9300 when overclocked. though the 9300 definitely runs a lot cooler. though that isn't much of an issue for people like me who bring a cooler everywhere.
Question: I took the thermal pad off the the north bridge thinking that is was crummy thermal paste, what should I do? I havent had much of any problems since i took it off. -
keep hwmonitor tab always open is your first step.
you can always check after gaming how far did it go.
as to the thermal, pad E-wracked is your man on where to get a new one (possibly free) narsnail also know a thing or two about it. -
hey guys please help me.
i m considering update the 6860 cpu.
i dont quite understand what is the thermal pad on northbridge.
from my understanding, the only important thing is that i dont take off anything from the laptop except the old cpu. is this right?
anything else need i pay attention to when upgrading the cpu?
thanks man -
you will see two chips when you take off the heat sink, the cpu is the one with the removable chip, no "pad" on it, while the north bridge is soldered on the board, cannot be removed, and has a grey pad on it.

gray or blue
