i was looking around for stuff on the internet and i found something that was pretty cool

it is a protection that you put in your laptop and protect against scratches and they even give to you a lifetime warranty

here is the website for it

    http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/gateway-p-7811-fx-cases-covers-skins-shields.php

i did this thread because i wanted to know if any1 had ever seen/has one of this protection because its very interesting

they even make a test that they put 1000 pounds of pressure on it and it doesn't `brake`

so if any 1 could help me with some information of if u liked it just post back

I use one on my Iphone and tablet pc screen and it definitely prevents scratches. I've had it for about 1 1/2 years so far and only a couple of dings. No one even notices I have it on. Overall a very positive experience. If someone bought one recently you can get 20% off your purchase. Hope that helps.

looks like its just a screen and palm rest protector.. not really worth $55 imo.
what would be nice is a keyboard cover. anyone know of one?

I use these on all my electronics. Have them for my ipod, blackberry, DS, and even bought one for my 6860fx even though they don't make one for it so I had to buy the 6301 version. It didn't fit as well as I thought it would, but it keeps my palm rest decently clean. Might consider repurchasing if the 7811 shield would fit better (Which I think it does).

I used it on my ipod touch. No scratches throughout the year I had it. Didnt like the "sticky" feeling when using the touch screen, but that wont be a problem for you. It also had an almost prism-y effect on the mirror-ry back, but once again, that shouldnt matter on a laptop, as long as you dont use it on your screen. Its not bad, but it is noticeable when you view it at an angle.

In the end, I never kept my Ipod touch in a bag with rocks and nails, so it probably never would have gotten scratched up anyway. But I felt a whole lot better having it on when fumbling with it at the gym.

From my experience its a great scratch protector. Just remember that's all youre getting, and dont drop your ipod thinking "maybe itll be okay." It probably wont be, unless you get a lucky bounce.

I don't get why the screen needs a screen protector though, I thought only touchscreens or tablets need them really, I never really ever touch my monitor. Putting it for me is like putting a screen protector over my widescreen TV...

Its probably not even for the screen. Many laptops now adays, including my HDX 18 have an extremely glossy everything really, and Invisible Shield would protect it from unsightly scratches (apart from ones that were caused by dropping it a couple of feet) if that would bother you that much. It's all on you if you care that much. I'm never packing my HDX in the same place as all my knives and samurai swords, so I dont plan on needing it. But my iPod touch has that silver back that scratches as easy as a contact lense, so I felt that I definitely needed it for that. Plus those thick cases for iPods are ugly as heck.

i just took the old invisible SHIELD off my macbook because it has turned brown and was replaced by invisible SHIELD. the entire laptop has a sticky substance on the cover from the removal of the shield. it is very very difficult to remove. how in the world am i supposed to get the sticky substance off? i've tried the SHIELD spray, a sticky removal product and mineral spirits and none will remove it. anyone had this happen to them? any ideas?

i just found out that leaving the invisbleshield on a macbook over 5 or 6 months subjects them to the high temperatures of the laptops and causes the extremely difficult removal of the glue residue when taking them off. This is much more pronounced on the macbooks due to the plastic type casing. i would not recommend using this product on any macbook!!! they have agreed to refund my purchase price and have acknowledged that this has been an issue with macs in the past but you will not find that fact anywhere on their website. i will spend the next 6 to 8 hours meticulously scraping and rubbing off the glue residue on my macbook. i hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

Wow that sucks. I never knew that because my iPod is never hotter than however hot I get at the gym. Guess that rules out invisible shield for my HDX. Dont think it reaching upwards of 80C degrees would end too well. Thanks for the info though, and hope things work out for you.

are you all really carrying your 17in 10lb laptops around enough to need one of these things?

Mine really doesn't get scratched sitting on my desk, or sitting in my backpack in the car. or sitting on any table anywhere.... but *shrugs* maybe you guys are bulking up for the military or something and feel like luggin' this computer around all day outside of a backpack

These things are awesome. Here is where I'd use it:

    1) Outside top cover of FX. It doesn't get hot there.
    2) Touch pad. I'm not sure if this would work, but touch-screens on other devices still work with Invisibleshield (I have friends who have it on their iPhones).
    3) The palm rest areas of typing and touchpad.
