Well, we have been waiting patiently, for over a year, for a new mobile gaming platform and it doesn't look good for Gateway. Acer, it seems, is putting all its eggs into its own basket.

    New Acer Gamer/MM

    Thoughts?

I saw that also but did not get it. What good is detaching the touchpad. Looks like a really big dust/dirt collector with that hole.

Anyway to answer the OP's question. You know the drill...Big company buys small company and sucks out any funds left in the small company and then drops the small companies line of goods and/or absorbs the technology.

Which, let me just tell you, purely sucks. I've never used anything but Gateways, because they've always done very well by me. And my experience with the so-called Giants is that the quickly become about the "reputation" not about actual quality.

Guess I'll have to find a new favorite when I pick up my next gametop...

Yeah, I know what you mean, but if you hook up to TV with HDMI and then stream Netflix, Hulu, etc... from your bed or chair you can control via the remote control. Since it does double as the touchpad, its not something extra you have to buy or carry around in addition to laptop. I thought it was a good idea. Just sayin'. :)
