Having been on here for 4 years, I feel like it's such a shame that Gateway got bought out by Acer, in the end I know the fate for Gateway...no more, just a matter of time. The Gateway forum has been getting quieter and quieter, I always check on here and it's good that TANWare is always there to help :)

Yes, I agree with you. I still use my P-7805u every day for business use and video editing. I also check in here daily. Glad to see TanWare is still around.

I'm still on my original P-7811FX purchased when it came out. I grabbed another refurbed 7811 also used. Both going strong and never a hiccup. I monitor this thread in Digg Reader (R.I.P. Google Reader). I will always have fond memories of this great notebook series.

I still have the same P-7805u, i'm writing this post on it, it's never let me down except with the usual quirks that weren't solved by this forum. Having seen the bargain I had with this laptop I find it hard to find the same again. Gateway must have not really profited from these.

heck I still have my P-6860FX and P7811FX both cpu upgraded and going strong so I don't know why would think it's dead. Gateway was bought by Acer so that should be reason enough they still have something to offer. A old computer isn't a dead computer.....

Thanks, the P-xxxx gamer series was the biggest activity in this thread. With the fact there are less surviving systems and most users have had issues resolved there is a lot less traffic. This is fine though as it means those left are content with what they have and how it runs.

My only one concern is Gateway support getting lost. Though with windows 7 on my P79xx the drivers that gateway have are so old I mostly update from the web. It also would have been nice though for Gateway to carry back to at least 9c.17.00 bios because of the NVidia fan issue with heat.

I am still using the P-79xx for work and gaming. I cannot stress enough how thankful i am for all the dedicated members on this forum that helped me and other users to not only fix the issues this laptop series had but to also educate me about computer hardware and software. Thanks to the P-series and this forum I am now confident to work and maintain not just my laptop but other ones belonging to friends too.

Having said that, I am now thinking about moving to lenovo and the Y510p.

    Again, thank you!

PS. Can I use the 9c.17.00 bios for the P-79xx motherboard?
