    Is Gateway replacing the P 7908u?

    I just bought a P-7908u last week at my local Fry's.( Fry's didn't say it was discontinued) I went online to the Gateway site and they only show the 7807 and 7809 laptops :mad: .

    Are they upgrading the line already...if so maybe I should return the laptop. Does anyone know what is going on? Does Gateway give notice?

    Well that was short lived. The whole 79xx series is off the website. The 7915 is still listed on the Best Buy site.

    Well I like the computer but, I also have noticed that I have the "sound problem" I wonder how long before they have "new models? If I return it I hope they don't charge a restocking fee.

    I think Gateway is coming out with new FX series. Maybe i'm wrong, but i can say for sure they have changed/updated the web page for the FX series in the last few hours. A gaming i5 rig planned ? or is it goodbye FX ?

    They are stupid if they scrap FX - it started the whole affordable gaming notebook trend. Asus is riding that atm.

    I was actually just about to post this... Just got my tax return (still waiting on the new home buyer credit damn IRS). Was gonna look into ordering/buying my desktop replacement finally... But now I get to wait and see what's going on i guess.

    Just checked again and now the gateway laptops are gone from Newegg.com completely... Sucks I was finally getting ready to make my choice/order.

    Yeah I know but still with no news of something different from them i'm kinda at a loss as I really had my mind set on one of the FX laptops. (I'd prefer not to get from BB though they have them still.)

    Well I returned the 7908u to my local Fry's. (They were very nice about the return) I was getting the cracking sound. I want to do video and screen capture for training videos so, I can't have the extra noise.

    I would like to buy the new version. I hope it is coming soon. I would like bluetooth, lighted keyboard and blueray.
