If you could upgrade the 9800M GTS in the 78xx series to the GTX 260M from the 79xx series.....IF you could, would you? Would the switch be worth the potential cost? Is the difference between them that much of a difference? Thanks for the Input!!

It wouldn't be worth it because the 2xxM series is nothing but rebranded 9800M parts with slightly higher clocks and maybe a step-later in revision.

Considering it would require a brand new motherboard? Not particularly.

Selling your current one and buying a new 7915 would be better but foolish. Lol.

I bought my 7805 a few months ago I was amazed, when I heard about 79xx a few weeks ago i was surprised and disappointed. However I checked forums, read a lot about new model and felt that i lost only a few FPS and nothing really more for such money.

kinda makes you wonder if you could do a gpu die switch though considering it almost the same gpu anyway although im pretty sure the bios wouldnt like that very much lol.

no because since the 9800m gts overclocks so well there's absolutely no point.

In my mind it does not make sense for the price/performance consideration when comparing it to the laptop you already have... I still have a 6860FX and its still kicking... look into upgrades would be my suggestion
