I was considering getting a refurbished 6860 and was wondering if people thought it was worth it. I was also looking at a DV5t with better specs on everything but the video card for close to the same money but the HP only had a 9600gt with DDR2 ram.

If you can find a 7811FX at a bestbuy still you can get one for that price and its a superior machine. let's all begin discussing why... J/K

I got my P-6860FX refurbished from TigerDirect and it works great!

It plays pretty much anything I throw at it (even with the stock CPU) and plays it well. It is definitely worth it!

EDIT: Although, if your looking for portability, the DV5T is the next best thing. Considering it has a 15.4" screen, you can take it with you. But with the P-6860FX, its quite heavy and not the most portable thing out there. Although if your looking on gaming a lot or just having a nice sleek and reliable laptop, the P-6860FX is just for you :D

if you look on ebay, you can probably snag a used one + a game or maybe a small upgrade for around $650. I bid for $720, but had a coupon so only payed $630 after S/H :p

I bought one of the refurbished 6860's from tigerdirect. It came with one of the keys slightly broken and a stuck pixel on the LCD, which has since disappeared. If you can forgive a few small flaws like that, then it's quite a bargain.

I bought a refurb 6860 from tiger direct. It came flawless. They have a warranty (short, i think 3 months?) so if you do have a problem you can contact gateway. Just look it over real good when you get it, torture test your cpu, test the ram etc.
