on my gateway in my sig, im getting 4 hours battery life constantly. This is with wifi and bluetooth on in addition to all factory settings.

Tell me is this above average for a desktop replacement or just about right.

    That's pretty good with a 17" w/ 8 cell

I have around the same battery life but with a 15.4"

    :(

Yeah, I reviewed the business version of your machine (The S-7700N) for this site and was floored by the battery life on the 8-cell. Easily 4 hours of basic tasks w/WiFi on and brightness at medium. That's great for a 17" DTR.

On my 8510GZ, with just web browsing, with wi-fi on, screen just below medium brightness, I get about 4.5 hours usually.

I'll be travelling more next year...and if I end up lugging this machine with me(it's probable I'll have a work issued computer instead...but we'll see), I'll just look into getting the 12 cell battery to see if I can get around 6 hours of battery life, for those longer flights.

Are the 8510gz and M680 battery interchangable since they seem to be identical?? I was looking at Ebay for 12 cell battery, nothing shows up for 8510gz but shows up for M680.

I also get over 4 hrs on my 8510gz.

They should be. They share the same chassis...even with the newer version of the M680. I can't imagine the manufacturer making a different type of battery for the 8510...production costs will make that cost prohibitive.

Obviously, the 12 cell sticks out the back a bit, but nothing dramatic.
