The normal temperature is around 45C.
I don't have BIG game to test my laptop. But I can play NFS11 for 2 hours without any issues. When I played <The Witcher> at high setting and 1900*1200 .Temperature goes up to around 70C, but never more than 75C.

This sunday I have a lock-up when I adjust my car in NFS11. and the sound freezes . GPU temperature around 65 I think.

After that I can't repeat the situation again. So what should I do with my lappy:>)

That does sound a lot like the lockups that the defective 7811s get, but if it has only happened to you one then I wouldn't worry too much about it. My first FX did that every single time i played any game, and others seem to be getting the lockups chronically as well. Since yours isn't repeating itself, I would assume that it is an unrelated issue.

Maybe you should run some high performance game demos for long periods of time just to test it out though.

If you are getting a frozen screen with an infinite sound loop with multiple games, then there is something wrong. My 7811 (which I refunded) would crash 20min to 1 hour of gaming, but there WERE times where I got games to run for two hours before I stopped playing.

If games keep freezing, the laptop is defective. I don't care if there are a few lucky times when I run a game for hours. That should be every time.

so it is a fact that temps have nothing to do with lock-ups then?

LOL. I played UT3 at 1920*1200 .very smoothly with 50+ fps. and GPU temp stayed around 65C. Nothing happened. So I guess maybe the driver (sound, motherboard or vga) under Vista 64 is the reason of lock-up.

Btw. I poped up the bottom with an egg box.. later I will buy one cooler to keep my lappy cool.

I remember that I encountered lock-up in my desktop several times. and it's not a big deal. just restart it and go on running with it. It's solid as the first day I bought it. So, don't worry about it~

i had one lock-up while installing 3dmark06 and one in UT..upgraded the video drivers and haven't had any since then..played UT3 for 6 hrs twice...

i guess the faulty ones lcok up more frequentley and after short period of times..
